My Sin
Annette Hanshaw & The New Englanders
Annette Hanshaw Sings De Sylva & Brown
This record was made in New York City on April 30th 1929 featuring Annette Hanshaw (as Gay Ellis) vocals, accompanied by "The New Englanders".
*"My Sin" was composed by Ray Henderson, with lyrics by Buddy De Sylva and Lew Brown.
While alternately appearing under her Columbia Records pseudonym "Gay Ellis", Annette Hanshaw delivers one spectacular performance of this 1929 Henderson, De Sylva, and Brown torch song classic. The number was also recorded that year by "Fred Waring & The Pennsylvanians" and by the "Ben Selvin Orchestra" just weeks prior to Annette's own. This recording was released on Columbia's budget priced Harmony, Velvet Tone, and Diva labels.
