You've Had Your Way
Hokum Trio
Feat. "Banjo" Ikey Robinson
This recording was made in New York City on May 1st 1930 with Ikey Robinson banjo & vocals, Alex Hill piano, and Cecil Scott clarinet.
"Banjo" Ikey sings a somber heart-breaking song in which he contemplates parting ways to escape the trapping of a troubled relationship before pleading with his woman to stay until the "sun shines through".
In spite of the number's slow tempo Cecil Scott's growled clarinet provides the necessary flavor to make the record swing from the very start of this famous 1930 collaboration with pianist Alex Hill.
