Jimmy Wade & His Dixielanders
Feat. Alex Hill
Recorded in Chicago on October 10th 1928 with Jimmy Wade cornet & director, Punch Miller cornet, Charles Lawson trombone, Arnett Nelson and Charles Johnson clarinet, alto, & tenor sax, Alex Hill piano & arranger, Charles Jackson or Stanley Wilson banjo, Stanley Wilson brass bass, Cliff Jones drums & kazoo.
*"Mississippi Wobble" was composed by Alex Hill.
Alex Hill was definitely always a driving force behind any band with whom he worked. His skills as a pianist alone were highly sought after, but it was really his astounding abilities as an arranger that usually made the biggest impact. His stamp could never have been more evident than it is here the superb musical construct pretty much gives it away and even the solo used is actually another of Hill's own original tunes titled "Stompin' 'Em Down".
