The string duo of Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang became so popular for their hot solo's that they were hired to provide instrumental additions to the end of otherwise stock dance recordings. They began to record as "Joe Venuti's Blue Four" in June of 1927 following a hand full of duet releases for Columbia and Okeh.
