"Introducing Zutty Singleton"

This side was recorded in New Orleans on March 16th 1924 featuring Amos White and Sidney Desvignes trumpets, Harvey Lankford trombone, Bert Bailey and Norman Mason clarinet & alto saxophone, Walter Thompson tenor & baritone sax, Fate Marable piano & conductor, Narvin Kimball banjo & guitar, Henry Kimball bass, and Zutty Singleton drums.

Fate Marable was renowned in New Orleans for playing the steam calliope on the Streckfus riverboat line and gave many jazz greats their first jobs playing in his bands including, Baby and Johnny Dodds, Zutty Singleton, King Oliver, Johnny St. Cyr, Tommy Ladnier, Pops Foster, and Louis Armstrong to name a few.

Being that "Fate Marable's Society Syncopators" only have one record to their credit, this tune represents one-half of their recorded legacy and is also the first record on which drummer Zutty Singleton ever appeared.
