The Duck's Yas Yas Yas
James "Stump" Johnson
"Whorehouse Hokum"
Recorded in St. Louis, Missouri in 1929 featuring James "Stump" Johnson piano & vocals.
Self-taught pianist Stump Johnson, the younger brother of a prominent promoter and music store owner, found lucrative work playing the brothels located throughout St. Louis.
Stump Johnson scored his biggest hit with this record containing his own suggestive original hokum party song, "The Duck's Yas-Yas-Yas." The piece enjoyed great popularity as a favorite of the city's red-light district for its strong use of sexual innuendo.
